Ben Nicholson

Benjamin Nicholson OM (1894 - 1982) was a painter of abstract compositions, landscapes and still life. He was born in Denham, Buckinghamshire and son to the artists William Nicholson and Mabel Pryde. Nicholson studied at the Slade School of Art where he discovered cubism and started experimenting with new modernist ideas. He later married artist Barbara Hepworth, they often worked together and were inspired by each other's creations.
