Hand-drawn Dachshund and poster
David Hockney drawings are extremely sought after and rarely available with such a popular subject and with such excellent provenance.
Hockney has sketched "Stanley" one of his famous dachshunds within a picture frame hanging on a nail. He has drawn this on the inside front cover of his book 'Off the Wall'. He has also sketched a line connecting this and the facing page, where he has added another frame hanging on a nail around the half title which he has inscribed “for Brian happy birthday. 20th Dec 1996, love David H”.
The Brian referred to in the dedication is Brian Baggott the noted Hockney collector, who wrote the forward to the book and whose collection of posters formed its content.
The whole book has been mounted within a museum grade frame and is beautifully presented. The overall measurement of which is 61 x 45cm
